Bransholme Trust Fund

Hull CVS are pleased to work in partnership with The Sir James Reckitt Charity and the Hull and East Riding Charitable Trust, to offer grants of up to £1,500 charities and voluntary and community groups that run projects which improves the lives of people living on Bransholme.

We expect that activities funded through the Bransholme Trust will encourage people to become involved in their local communities, have a better quality of life, enable people of all ages to develop new skills and encourage people to become more active.

Grants can be used to pay for things that a group needs to run its activities; this might include equipment that your group needs to do its work, an activity or event, pay for room hire, stationery postage etc.

Groups can apply for funding from the Bransholme Trust every financial year if required (1st April‐31st March).

Charitable and not for profit voluntary and community and faith groups societies, community associations and clubs can apply for a grant from the Bransholme Trust each year for activities that they do with the people of Bransholme.

Faith organisations can apply providing the activities for which they are seeking funding does not promote religion.

You can ask for between £50 and £1,000 per year.

Groups with an income of over £10,000 are eligible to apply for up to £1,500 per year (proof of this will be required) for three projects over that year.

Sports groups are also able to apply for rolling funding to cover costs for a period of up to 3 years. This will be released annually subject to completion of an annual evaluation.

You can ask for a grant to pay for the things you need to run your activities which benefit people living on Bransholme.

That might include things like ‐ equipment that your group needs to do its work, an activity or event, a day trip (but only if you can show how they will benefit people e.g. as a learning opportunity, or a healthy activity), routine bills to keep your group running (e.g. booking a room, printing posters or newsletters, purchasing stamps and paying for phone calls, paying bus fares or mileage allowance for volunteers and committee members, or buying resources to run your group activities).

You can also use a grant of up to £500 from the Bransholme Trust to use towards the cost of something big that costs more than £500, but you will need to find the rest of the money from somewhere else.

We will need to see a copy of your governing document or a set of rules if your group has them.

If your group has not adopted a Constitution (or similar document) and it does not have a set of rules don’t worry, you may still be able to apply for the Bransholme Trust Fund. If your group is very new, you might need a Starter Grant to pay for things while you work up to the point where you adopt a Constitution.

We recognise that small self‐help groups are often very informal and do not always have a Constitution. We also understand that this often means that it can be very difficult to access other grant funding; Starter Grants is keen to support these types of groups.

Hull CVS can also help you with writing your Constitution or set of rules.

You should make your application by the last week of January, June or October.

Complete the online Application Form. Once you have completed the form remember to click the submit button at the end of the form.

We will contact you within 5 working days to advise you that we have received your application.

Eligible applications are considered by an independent Grants Panel which is made up of people who live or work on Bransholme and know the local area. You will be told the outcome of your application within one week of the panel meeting which is usually held in the first two weeks of February, July or November.

If your application is successful, you will be asked to call into our offices on Beverley Road to verify the identity of two of your committee members and also sign a grant agreement before we can send you your grant payment.

Once you have received your grant you will also be asked to sign a grant receipt.

We will contact you after a year to find out how your group is doing and how you used your grant from the Bransholme Trust. You must send us information about how you used your grant.

If your application is unsuccessful you will be told why and offered information about other grants that your group may be eligible to apply for.

Any personal details which you give us as part of this application process are solely for the purpose of administering the Bransholme Trust and our accounting; unless you agreed to receive other mailings from Hull CVS.

If you are unhappy with the decision regarding your application for a grant, and you think it was not given fair consideration, you must contact the Funding and Grants Officer at Hull CVS. Your reasons can be taken to the next meeting of Hull CVS Trustees who will make a final decision. If you are unhappy with any other aspect of the way your application is treated, you can complain in writing. Your complaint will be considered in line with Hull CVS Complaints Policy.
